ATDC Board Intern Position Open

Are you a person with a living or lived experience of alcohol and other drugs, as well as an emerging leader with a passion for making a difference in the alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD) sector?

The ATDC is excited to offer a 12-month Board Intern position – a unique governance training opportunity designed to build skills, confidence, and pathways into leadership.

What you’ll do:

  • Participate in all ATDC Board activities as an Intern Director.
  • Gain first-hand experience in governance and board processes.
  • Build confidence in your leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Contribute to improving diversity and representation in governance.

We welcome applications from people with living or lived experience of alcohol and other drugs. You do not need prior governance or board experience — this program is specifically designed to provide that learning in a safe, structured way.

What you can expect:

  • A structured position description outlining your role, responsibilities and expectations.
  • A supported induction process to help you get started.
  • Guidance and mentoring from ATDC Board members.
  • An opportunity to grow your skills, activate your leadership, and contribute to the work of Tasmania’s ATOD sector.
  • Honorarium to support your involvement.

This is more than an internship: it’s a chance to step into leadership and help shape the future of our sector.

If you’re passionate about learning, contributing, and growing your voice at the governance level, we encourage you to apply.
