Established in 1854, Launceston City Mission (City Mission) is Australia’s second oldest ‘Mission’. City Mission has been providing care and assistance to people experiencing hardship and disadvantage in local communities across North and North West Tasmania for 170 years, transforming lives in the name of Jesus and providing a way forward to a brighter future.
City Mission’s Alcohol and Other Drug services include:
- Missiondale, a 34-bed residential rehabilitation and recovery facility on a peaceful 25-acre rural property near Evandale (North). The program is made up of 6 different stages, taking up to 6 months to complete. Residents of all stages live together in shared accommodation (lounges, kitchens, bathrooms–but with own bedrooms) to support each other through the program.
- Serenity House, a Sobering Up and Place of Safety facility located in Burnie (North West), offering a place to ‘time out’ in communal living under the support and supervision of trained staff. Clients are accepted statewide and from interstate.
- Orana House provides beds for Sobering Up and a Place of Safety for Tasmanians. This facility is in Newnham (Launceston), directly on the main bus route with a stop outside the main gate.
