ATDC Submission to the Healthy, Active Tasmania 20-Year Preventative Health Strategy 2026-2046

ATDC responds to the Discussion Paper: Healthy, Active Tasmania 20-Year Preventative Health Strategy 2026-2046 from the perspective of Tasmania’s community-managed ATOD sector.

Prevention requires sustained investment, clear policy direction, and collaborative, evidence-based action. The ATDC emphasises the critical need to adequately resource community-managed ATOD services, to implement existing strategic frameworks comprehensively, and to adopt progressive, health-centred approaches such as the decriminalisation of personal substance use. Further, addressing regulatory gaps and establishing robust, integrated data systems will ensure Tasmania is equipped to proactively respond to current and emerging ATOD-focused preventative health challenges.
